Hey guys! It’s been a little bit – and if you are still waiting on the tutorial for the dresser makeover, don’t worry it’s coming!
We all got sick – TWICE! And it’s been a constant game of catch up since…you’d think after 6 years of blogging, I’d have learned not to start posting tutorials for DIY projects until, I have them completed. Guess you really can’t teach an old dog new tricks. lol Or at least only one at a time, and this just wasn’t the time I was going to learn, but I ASSURE you it’s coming!
But for today, let’s talk about something a little more important than a piece of furniture…YOU!!!!

“…if you judge your value based on whether you look like someone else – or even just the way you THINK you ought to look, you’ll spend your whole life believing you have no value.”
I haven’t liked my stomach in years. I’m fine with my weight. My stretch marks. That little bit of saggy excess skin from having 3 babies in 3 years. None of that bothers me.
It’s this stupid hernia that can’t be – or rather multiple doctors have advised against it being repaired.
It’s the fact that no matter how hard I work or how clean I eat, I will never have the abs I want to have.
I know it doesn’t seem like a big deal to most people – I get told it’s not a big deal all the time.
And I am not saying that to complain. It’s just something I have noticed working so closely with women over the past 2 years on their fitness goals. We focus on and allow ourselves to be frustrated by the silliest things.
Things no one else notices.
And we get told that – “you’re the only one that notices.”
Well it’s MY body, so if I notice, isn’t that a pretty big deal???
And here’s the conclusion I’ve come to: it is.
But not the way we think it is. It’s a big deal because we focus more on the “bad” things about ourselves than we do the good.
It’s a big deal because we focus more on picking ourselves apart than what God says about us.
God made us unique. He made us all special. And yeah, we ARE called to honor Him by taking care of our bodies, but we also have to make sure we are not making our bodies an idol.
It’s been said that, “Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
In the same sense, if you judge your value based on whether you look like someone else – or even just the way you THINK you ought to look, you’ll spend your whole life beliving you have no value.
This can go for a lot of things – we can compare our gifts, talents, and goals to that of others, but the TRUTH is – GOD’S TRUTH is – you were created unique and with a specific purpose. Stop focusing on who you think you ought to be and put your attention on being who you were CREATED to be.
Be your OWN kind of beautiful…
? Coach April Nicole
How will you focus on being your own kind of beautiful today???
April was born and raised in south Louisiana where she still resides with her husband and their 3 children who she homeschools. Her hobbies include sleeping late, procrastinating, starting complicated DIY projects it takes her ages to complete, buying moreĀ books even though she hasn’t had time to read the last batch she bought, and finding ways to mildly annoy her husband (see first 4 hobbies). She’s overly opinionated, talks too much and too loud, and refuses to simply go along with the status quo. While she would love to be able to say she is one of those ride or die chicks, she simply has too many questions such as, “where are we going, but more importantly, can we stop for nachos??”
