This post is a little harder to write because the HOW is ever evolving.
I’m not sure of exactly how to get where I’m going and being the perfectionist that I am, I always strive for efficiency, so it makes it difficult to get started.
I want to take the shortest route to the best view.
I don’t want to get stuck in traffic. Take a wrong turn. Miss out on a route that is a little bit longer but has views that simply can’t be missed.
I want the BEST and the MOST out of life.
And so a lot of times, I get myself stuck in that planning mode thinking that if I research enough, I can somehow plan a route with the least amount of pain + troubles – forgetting that I haven’t actually got that much control over my path.
Again, we have to do our part, but we have to remember that there is no TESTIMONY if there is no TEST. The Bible says without question that there will be trials, troubles, and persecution. It’s not a matter of IF. It’s a matter of WHEN, and the only thing we can control is our response.
We can allow it to break us or allow it to make us.
People often ponder the meaning of life. Why are we here?
As a Christian, it gets a little more difficult to figure out – in my opinion anyway. Like… God, seriously? Why do I need to be down here suffering if I’m your child who You love and You’re up there strolling streets of gold where there is no sickness. No loss. No pain. No suffering. Why am I here? I don’t want to be here struggling to figure this whole life thing out. Figuring out how not to be an ass when it feels like the world is just one giant asshole. And before you get all preachy on me about my use of that word, you need to know 4 things:
- That word is used in the Bible.
- The Bible says not to CURSE, NOT, not to CUSS. Dictionaries are fun, and definitions are important.
- I AM also aware that the Bible says not to use coarse language. I am NOT however entirely convinced that words that appear in the Bible would also appear on the list of words I’m not allowed to use as a Christian. And last but not least…
- I am a HUMAN. I am a human who believes in Christ, does my best to be Christ-like, and fails DAILY. I drink beer. I cuss. I wear bikinis – actually I’m kinda obsessed with them. I am NOT saying any of that would be advocated by Christ. I’m just saying this is who I am. I’m never going to try to hide it because I don’t need to be perfect to follow Christ and spread His message – matter of fact, I feel like parading myself as perfect while trying to spread His message sets the bar pretty dang high and kind of puts a lot of people off. I mean we should be doing our best and allowing ourselves to be CONVICTED, but I refuse to live under CONDEMNATION. I’m NOT perfect. Not even close. But I LOVE people. I want them to KNOW that they are loved – I’m not going to cater to the BS, whiny baby, “you have to make me feel good about myself and agree with everything I say or you’re full of hate” crowd, but I am going to LOVE people. Maybe not how they want me to, but I’m going to love on them the best way I know how – which is the way that Jesus did. I’m going to speak the truth in love, and if you are so PREOCCUPIED by three damn letters…you probably have spent more time reading this post than you have reading the Bible…and that’s all I have to say about that.
So let’s move on, shall we? Back to the how…
The beginning is going to seem kind of humble…but I mean, come on…Jesus was born in a manger. Did you hear him complaining? Nope! And uh…pretty sure He died for our sins and rose from the dead saving us from eternal damnation 33 years later, so obviously, humble beginnings make for some pretty epic endings. Let’s get off our high horses and just go with the whole humble beginnings thing.
What you need to do is really simple.
Grab your journal and a pen – or any ole blank piece of paper. Say a quick prayer for guidance and wisdom and write down what you want. It doesn’t matter how crazy it sounds. Don’t put it through the filter of “can this logically happen?” – trust me. The enemy WILL try and fight you on this. He is going to give you EVERY reason you can’t do this or that. If it is truly in your heart, WRITE. IT. DOWN. ANYWAY. Don’t take your focus off of what is truly on your heart. And if you aren’t sure if it’s you or God, WRITE. IT. DOWN. ANYWAY. Just keep asking God to close doors only He can close and open doors only He can open. Ask for wisdom to know whether you should go left or right.
God IS capable.
So take a few minutes.
Put pen to paper.
And say VERY CLEARLY what it is that you want.
It’s okay if it changes.
You’re allowed to learn.
You’re allowed to change.
You’re allowed to evolve as a person.
But just write it down.
What it is you want right now?
Five year perfect plan?
What would it be?
Again…you’re allowed to change it, so don’t over analyze. Just sit. Write. Do.
I feel like I should pay someone to write this for me, but for now, I’m a one woman show who hates talking about herself in a crowd. Lucky for me, I’m probably the only one reading this at the moment so that makes it a little easier. Basically, I’m a 38 year old homeschool mom of 3 turned cosmetology student born and raised in south Louisiana. Though I don’t write specifically about my faith, my life’s passion is to help women see themselves as Jesus does by doing life along side them and being as open and honest about my walk with Him as possible.
Most days, it doesn’t look super spiritual. It’s just me living my life while doing the best I can to get closer to Him. If I can just help ONE women see how beautiful, unique, and talented she truly is by sharing the mistakes, mishaps, and lessons learned, all this will be worth it. So I share a little bit of everything from homeschooling to travel to DIY and sewing projects gone wrong. Fashion and fitness. Wakeup and makeup. My motto is it’s okay to fail a little as long as you learn a lot. So you’ll see me write about a little bit of everything because through it all, He’s teaching me a lot.
