Hello everyone! Sorry for my lack of Sewing School posts in the last week and a half. These post have taken me a lot longer to write than I anticipated when I started the series. Being self taught, I want to be sure I am giving you the correct information and showing you what I think is the best and most efficient way to do things. I also want to be sure that my explanations are easy to understand for someone who is new to sewing. Even the shortest posts take me at least a day of researching, plus 6-8 hours to write because I go over it so many times.
Basically, I feel like I’ve been writing term papers all summer while taking care of three small kiddos, and I am exhausted!!! lol Not to mention, behind on so many other projects. This series is really important to me because I remember when I used to look at projects other people had done, and think to myself, “I could never do that”. I spent years afraid to even try, and I wish I had had someone telling me “YOU CAN DO IT”. Hopefully, that is what this series will do for at least one of you, and I want to offer you guys the best information I possibly can, and I feel like I have gotten so overwhelmed that I have become lazy with the posts. Every time I sit down to write a Sewing School post (or any other post for that matter), my head swims, so I just haven’t posted anything because I refuse to publish something that is not what I believe to be the best I have to offer you. I’ve got two tutorials ready to write, but when I sit down to do it, nothing.
I wanted to get the series finished before I leave to go on vacation next week, and I was really frustrated with myself when I realized it just wasn’t going to happen. But I have to cut myself some slack and realize that things don’t always go the way you planned, and sometimes you just need a break . So Sewing School is going to be taking a little summer break, and will resume Monday, August 20, 2012. And after some relaxation, and crossing a few things off my to do list, I will be back ready to go!
BUT, don’t be too disappointed! I have lined up some fabulous guest bloggers for while I am gone, and they are going to be sharing some great tutorials and recipes with you starting Friday! Tomorrow I’m going to give you a little sneak peak of who will be guest posting. And, if you are just going to miss me so much (you know you will! lol) and want to keep up with me while I am on vacation, you can follow me on Instagram! See you soon!
April was born and raised in south Louisiana where she still resides with her husband and their 3 children who she homeschools. Her hobbies include sleeping late, procrastinating, starting complicated DIY projects it takes her ages to complete, buying more books even though she hasn’t had time to read the last batch she bought, and finding ways to mildly annoy her husband (see first 4 hobbies). She’s overly opinionated, talks too much and too loud, and refuses to simply go along with the status quo. While she would love to be able to say she is one of those ride or die chicks, she simply has too many questions such as, “where are we going, but more importantly, can we stop for nachos??”
